Jan Flachet is SUEZ Energy International's Regional Manager of Latin America.
He was born in Gent, Belgium in 1956, and graduated as an Electro-Mechanical
Engineer from the University of Leuven (UCL) in 1979. In 1988 he took a Diploma
in Management at KUL's Institute of Management and Administration and from 1995
to 1996 attended the General Management Programme CEDEP at INSEAD, Fontainebleau.
Between 1981 and 1989 Jan Flachet worked for Unerg in various posts related to electricity distribution operations in and around Brussels. In 1990 he became District Head at Electrabel in charge of Electricity, Gas and TV distribution operations for 10 municipalities. Between 1993 and 1995 he worked as regional manager for the Flemish municipalities around Brussels before moving to Argentina as General Manager of SUEZ Energy International's gas distributor Litoral Gas. In 1999 he became Senior Vice President in charge of SEI's global distribution, transport and trading operations and in 2001 was appointed Chief Business Developer for South America. After a year as Regional Manager for the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa, he returned to Argentina to take up his present position in 2003.
