Core activities include development and acquisitions of energy facilities, management and operation of electricity and cogeneration facilities, the import of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and distribution of natural gas, marketing and sales of energy products and services.

GDF SUEZ Energy North America's activities are organized around a competency-based business model that achieves both vertical and horizontal integration across the energy value chain. Key subsidiaries and their core competencies include:

• SUEZ Energy Marketing NA: active in managing commodity price risks around the merchant assets and contracts of its affiliated US businesses
• SUEZ Energy Resources NA: the 4th largest retail commercial and industrial energy provider in the US
• SUEZ Energy Generation NA : a mid-sized operator of contracted electricity generation and cogeneration plants in the US, Mexico and Canada
• SUEZ LNG NA: the most experienced liquefied natural gas (LNG) operator and one of the largest LNG importers in the US
• SUEZ Renewable Energy NA: the business line responsible for the management and growth of all renewable activities in North America. These activities include wind, biomass, geothermal, hydro, and solar energy projects.

GDF SUEZ Energy International's operations in Mexico are overseen by its Houston office. Activities include the operation of 6 natural gas distribution companies in Mexico City, Tampico, Querétaro and Guadalajara and cogeneration plants in Tampico and Monterrey.
